About Me
Originally from Saskatchewan, I moved to British Columbia in 2011 to plant trees and I haven’t looked back since. The mountainous terrain of the west ignited my passion for the outdoors, which I have been actively indulging for the past three years by means of rock climbing, mountaineering, ski touring, sea kayaking and surfing. After three years of recreating I decided to hone my skills at Capilano University’s Advanced Wilderness Leadership program to become a professional backcountry guide. I am presently working toward becoming a full Mountain Guide which really just means I have an excuse to be constantly in the mountains, working and pursuing what I love most. I am an easygoing individual who enjoys his time off, but when it’s time to work, I will not stop until my planters are successful.

Quotes
“I never saw a discontented tree. They grip the ground as though they liked it, and though fast rooted they travel about as far as we do.” – John Muir
“It will all come out in the wash” – Jack Kerouac
My Planting History
This will be my 9th year working with Summit. I managed a crew for 5 seasons and started supervising in 2019. In my rookie planting season, I was extremely lucky to be planting under the leadership of the legendary JP Mimeault. He was a crew-boss who expected his planters to work as hard for him as he did for us. He didn’t believe in excuses as to why you were late in the morning or why you didn’t plant as many trees as he knew you were capable of. I respected his directness, honesty and how he expected us to give it our all, day in and day out, and to celebrate accordingly afterwards.
Goals and Expectations
I want my camp to be successful and I will work my ass off for that to happen. To me, being a successful planter doesn’t simply mean reaching your monetary goals, but doing it safely, consistently, and with a positive attitude every single day. For our camp to be successful everyone needs to support one other through thick and thin. Everyone should be striving to meet daily goals and to help each other exceed them, whether that is through friendly competition or moral support. You’re not taking a marriage vow when joining this crew, but something close.
