About Me:
I'm John, but everyone around here calls me John-John. I grew up in the foothills of the Rockies, in and out of Calgary. This was fortunate for me because I got to experience the Rockies from a young age. I've been playing and working in the backcountry every summer since I discovered my passion for the outdoors when I was 13. Since then, I've climbed tons of big objectives, mountain biked on the CDT, skied all kinds of backcountry, and backpacked in some of the most remote places in the country. I followed this passion into university and graduated with a Bachelor of Outdoor Leadership and Ecotourism at Mount Royal University in 2019. |
Industry Experience:
For the past 5 years I've been planting with Summit. I've planted all kinds of land, in all kinds of weather. Every year I was more successful and appreciated the work more and more. More money, more friends, more experiences, more everything! That's why I keep coming back! I've also been the camp first aider, primary driver, rookie trainer, and an assistant crew boss. I have my OFA-3 certificate and have planting related physiotherapy knowledge from working with Summit's physiotherapy partners. I'm committed to being the best crewboss, and to make sure everyone succeeds more than they ever thought they could. I intend to assemble a seriously amazing crew, with seriously amazing people. What I expect from you:
Safety - I'm looking for people who are committed to making decisions that keep them and everyone else uninjured and healthy.
Commitment - This crew will be full of people who are ready and willing to crush every duty all season long. You ought to be committed to excelling personally, and helping those around you excel. Let's all make the most of the season, and committing yourself to the tasks is how you accomplish that.
A willingness to achieve. I want everyone to exceed their goals, and redefine what they thought was their limit.
