About Me
The first time I went tree planting was 2012. I took the greyhound bus across the country with a duffel bag of camping equipment, very little money to my name and almost no knowledge of what tree planting actually entailed. My first few shifts in camp completely blew my mind. It was the hardest I had ever worked, and some of the most fun I had ever had. The element that surprised me the most was the people, there were so many weird and wonderful people from all over the world. |
Industry history
It didn't take long for me to fall in love with tree planting, I loved the environment, I loved the money and I loved the lifestyle. When I first showed up in camp I didn't think I would end up supervising camps but I knew I would be around for a while. However, I became a planter turned checker, a checker turned crew boss and a crew boss turned supervisor.
Overall
My relationship with tree planting has changed a lot over the years but what hasn't changed is my respect for the work. Few people grind harder than tree planters and even fewer people earn their money through literal blood, sweat, and tears.
The respect I have for tree planters motivates me as a camp supervisor. It motivates me to ensure everyone is safe, everyone is supported and that camp is a good place for everyone to be. It is my goal that all blocks get planted safely and that crews get a lot of support throughout the season. And ultimately, I want to see all planters be as successful as they possibly can be.
I know that this job, as well as the overall culture of tree planting, wouldn't be possible without the planters and it is my goal to make each planter's season as safe, lucrative and enjoyable as possible!
