About Me:
I was born in Toronto, and made my way out West shortly after graduating high school. I was intrigued by the wonders of the mountains and the prevalent adventure-driven lifestyles that I had heard so much about. I Started University at UBC-Okanagan, but it didn’t take long before my passion for skiing, climbing, and exploring nature put school on the back burner. In addition to needing money to support a lifestyle that was dependant on accumulating gear and maximizing my time-off, I wanted to find work that would not only push me to my limits but I could also be proud of. I found tree planting. My first season was eye-opening, and in the beginning I absolutely hated it. But I forced myself to get through it, I pushed myself to be successful, and in the end I knew I had found something truly special. I knew that this was the job for me. I have never experienced an environment that has offered more opportunities for personal development, self-growth, and the realization that you are capable of so much more than you believe. The challenges I’ve faced throughout all of my planting seasons have only added to the sense of achievement I’m filled with at the end. And the family that I’ve become a part of along the way is one I wouldn’t trade for the world. Tree planting is a beautiful thing that combines community, hardship, triumph, and a whole lot of laughter. And I encourage you to become a part of it. |
Interests:
I LOVE planting trees! Outside of the planting season, my passions are skiing/snowboarding, climbing, and dancing. After a few years in BC, I got into backcountry skiing and now instruct Avalanche Safety Training courses during the Winter. When I’m not teaching courses, I do most of my skiing in Revelstoke and in the Rogers Pass. I’ve been rock climbing for the past seven years now, and I have been lucky enough to climb all over BC, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Utah. Whether it’s flailing about at live shows or music festivals, practicing partner style dances like Kizomba, or just grooving by myself while I wait in line at the grocery store. I love music and movement and will gladly get up and dance to any music you’re into.
Planting Experience:
I started planting in 2016. As a planter, I was a camp first-aider, and primary-driver for three years, and a rookie-trainer for two. I will be able to teach you proper planting techniques that will prevent you from getting injured, and I’m great at boosting morale on tough days. I’ve had the pleasure of learning the ins and outs of tree planting from Adrien Gendron, and he did really well at prepping me for the arduous roles of being a crew boss. This will be my third year running a tree-planting crew. I am stoked on the amazing people I was able to bring together, and what we were able to achieve together. I can’t wait to get back out there, do it all over again, and make this season even better!
What you can expect from me:
Everyday that I am out there, I will work hard to ensure that you are safe and well-equipped to reach your maximum potential. I pride myself on communication; you can expect clear instructions and someone who will listen to feedback and take into consideration what you need to excel. I make good plans. I will do my absolute best to ensure full days of planting and makes sure you are not waiting for trees. I will create an environment that fosters respect and support within our crew and camp. I will give 100% effort and all the enthusiasm I can muster each and every day, so I expect the same in return. But when it’s all said and done, I hope we can all have some good laughs while we’re at it.
What I will expect from you:
I expect you to continue to push yourself every day. We are out here to make money, I will be working hard for you, and I expect the same in return. I expect you to do your best to maintain a positive attitude and be respectful to your fellow planters. A crew that can come together, support, and encourage one another will do a lot better at reaching each of our independent goals. I expect you to contribute to that environment, and hold yourself accountable for the work that you do.
