About Me:
I'm Kenzie! I grew up alpine ski racing and camping in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 2020 I was nearing the end of a blissful first year of university when the pandemic swept the world. My life quickly became confined to my computer and the four walls of my student apartment. In the midst of all this I stumbled upon the summit website. I found myself a crew and made the trip out for my rookie season. It was a brutal experience that I couldn't be more thankful for. After 3 seasons, the tree planting experience fundamentally changed me as a person. I learned what it meant to truly work hard, developed a sense of internal motivation and self-confidence, as well as an unwavering perseverance when trying to achieve my goals. Outside of the bush I am a recent graduate of a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Kinesiology from Acadia University. I am an avid ski coach and in the process of becoming a teacher. |
Industry Experience:
I planted for several seasons across a huge spectrum of contracts! In both my second and third season I was a rookie trainer and I know the training manual like the handle on my shovel. In my third season I was also an Assistant Crew Boss (ACB) and primary driver. This year I will be crew bossing and I could not be more excited.
What you can expect from me:
Hard Work: I will give everything I have to make sure my planters have the opportunity to reach their goals and find success.
Support: This job is far from easy, and it is crucial for success to create an environment that you feel supported! I want to work with all my planters to ensure they feel backed and encouraged on and off the block
Coaching: I am committed to helping all my planters develop all their planting related skills. I have 8 years of experience coaching ski racing and 2 years coaching planting!
Organization: If I am one thing that is organized! I pride myself on my time management, planning, and communication skills.
What I expect from you:
Hard Work: Tree Planting is a unique challenge that requires unwavering determination and tenacity. I am looking for planters that will see this through on a daily basis. Consistency is key!
Adaptability: you never know what you are going to get out there! The ability to adapt to anything and everything that planting could throw at you is invaluable
Respect: You must respect yourself, your workplace, and your teammates.
Attitude: your attitude shapes your experiences. Having a positive attitude will get through some inevitably hard days and leave with a great feeling at the end of it.
