Safety

We operate with the belief that nothing we do is worth getting hurt over. Our safety goal is to have zero accidents. Summit's number one priority is safety and we have put a great amount of time and effort into developing our safety systems.
Training
Every employee receives training at the beginning of the planting season. The training includes bear awareness, emergency evacuation, emergency procedures, and cut block safety. Planters are trained to understand their responsibilities in maintaining our high standard health and safety program.
Summit staff members are trained to various levels of certification including OFA Level III, WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, FAC/PAL, and Danger Tree Assessment.
Health and Safety Program
Our Health and Safety Program is not a "bolted on" addition to our operation, but an integrated part of the way we perform our job. All aspects of our operation were considered in the building of our safety program. We maintain a high level of safe working conditions through regular inspections, monitoring, reporting, and training.
We are a certified SAFE Company in BC and hold a PIR COR in Alberta.
The company Health & Safety Policy gives an overview of our commitments towards safety and the responsibilities we must all hold to meet those commitments.
Take a look at the BC Forest Safey Council's Forest Safety Accord for a nice summary of the key beliefs Summit shares with the industry.
