About Me:
I grew up in a grade A suburb of Dayton, Ohio but have been fortunate enough to call a few places home. I have a background in endurance sports which lead me to a couple universities. By the time the season rolls around, I will have finished my degree in political science and global governance from the University of Waterloo. In the past three years, I have fallen in love with tree planting and the planting community. My achievements from the block are of my proudest, and my seasons as a planter have helped to shape who I am today. I love the sense of self, reward, and accomplishment with which planting has so generously provided me. |
Industry Experience:
I have had three very successful seasons as a tree planter, and I finished the 2020 season ranked as the number one planter in the company. In addition to planting, I have the experience of being a primary driver, a rookie trainer, many days of running small crews and special missions, and working under two very experienced foreman who were kind enough to provide me with three seasons worth of foreman training.
Hobbies:
When I am not planting, I like to do all kinds of things. This includes, but is not limited to, mountain biking, bikepacking, skunking my friends in crib, and trying to make others laugh.
What planters can expect of me:
My goal for the season is to facilitate a culture of trust and dedication to create a crew that loves to pound together on the block and celebrate together in camp.
● Safety - The wellbeing of my crew will be my top priority while making any decisions throughout the season.
● Communication - I will work with clarity and transparency in goals, instructions, and expectations.
● Work ethic - As a planter, I worked as hard as I possibly could every day on the block. You can expect nothing less from me every day as your foreman.
● Inclusiveness - I am a firm believer in the strengths of diversity. Expect a crew that is representative of all genders and values each planter’s input and opinion.
● Dedication to my planters - My crew’s success is my number one priority. I will do everything I can to make your job easier and to maximize your planting time. Throughout the season, I will strive to continue to improve so I am better able to serve you.
My expectations of planters:
I will lead by example and hold myself accountable. In everything my planters can expect of me, I will expect from them in return.
● Respect - In the bush, those around you will become your family. There will be room for nothing but respect on my crew.
● Safety - Take care of yourself, take care of each other, and we will have a great season.
● Attitude - Tree planting is hard. Really hard. Mentally and physically hard. Keeping a positive attitude is crucial to yourself and the crew. There will be very hard days, but we will be in it together.
● Communication - Be open with me about the good and the bad. This is how we will understand and learn from each other.
● Work ethic - I am looking for goal-oriented people who hold high expectations of themselves. I will expect my planters to give 100% effort and strive for improvement every day on the block.
Planting is among the hardest things that you will ever do, but I will be there to give you everything you need to be successful. As a planter, I was a late bloomer, but I learned how to be the top planter in the company. Work with me and I will teach you everything I know. I am excited about what the future has in store. Get in touch with me and let’s do something great.
