About Me
Hey there, my name is Sean Vogan and I am stoked to be a crew boss for Summit again this year! I'm originally from London ON, went to Toronto for post-secondary, and now live in Fernie BC. I have spent my recent winters on snow, riding and backcountry touring, and my summers in the bush planting trees. My other interests include hiking, canoeing, reading, and watching/playing sports (Go Buckeyes!). Some of the highlights of my life so far would be: representing Canada in an international football tournament, graduating with a bachelor’s from Toronto Metropolitan University, and riding every resort on the Powder Highway. I am motivated to come back planting to continue to face the challenges it represents, to continue to grow as a person, and build lifelong memories with the community. |
Industry Experience
This will be my 5th season with Summit and 2nd as a crewboss. I am looking to add to a crew of unique individuals who work hard in an exciting environment. Anyone who is looking to challenge themselves, learn more, and/or become a leader in this industry is strongly recommended to apply to my crew.
Expectations for planters
Work Ethic – I am looking for planters that are willing to show up ready for work each day, no matter the conditions. The most important factor to a successful season is being consistent out on the block and I can assure you I will be working just as hard right by your side.
Coachability – I don’t expect my planters, vets or rookies, to know everything on the first day of the season. What I do expect is that you bring the right attitude to work and are willing to learn together throughout the season.
Teamwork – I am proud of having a crew that values inclusiveness and teamwork in all aspects of bush life. There is no room for discrimination or disrespect on my crew. Each of us has goals, and we will all work together to make them possible.
What you can expect from me
Consistency – Something I really prided myself on as a planter and as a crewboss; I work non stop to ensure
that each of my planters is satisfied with their goals throughout the season. I put in the same
effort every day to ensure that we all are successful.
Safety – No ifs, ands or buts! My planters’ safety is my top priority, and will play into the
plan for each day. From the moment we get into the trucks to sitting down for dinner, I want all
my planters to feel safe and confident in the work we are doing.
Fun – Most importantly is having fun out there! Tree planting is no joke but being able to bring
positive vibes to the block and camp are essential to a season with Summit. If we work hard, we
can play just as hard!
I want my planters to know that I am a leader who will plant alongside them, push them to achieve
their goals, listen to and provide feedback, and endlessly try to make their season as
memorable as possible.
P.S. The dog in my picture is Chevy! She will be returning for her 5th tree planting season.
