About Me
I was raised on a little horse farm in Russell, Ontario, by two hard working parents that were never scared to get their hands dirty. Growing up in this environment has made me no stranger to working hard and in all conditions. I have always enjoyed working outdoors and believe in the harder you work the more you will get out of it. In high school I did a student exchange with a school from BC. This is where I realized how much I love being in the mountains and traveling. After doing two years at Algonquin College, I packed my car and drove back out west (I love road trips). My realization for how much I wanted to spend my time snowboarding and traveling led me to tree planting. I enjoy the mental and physical challenges that come with the job because it allows me to learn and grow year after year. |
Interests
I played competitive soccer growing up and still enjoy the odd game. Mostly, I now enjoy snowboarding, surfing and climbing. Splitboarding is amazing (work for your turns)! I have just started surfing and climbing and enjoy the new challenges (I don't like heights). Traveling has become a passion of mine. I try and mix sports with travel (as I write this I am in Baja, Mexico on a surfing trip). But of course I enjoy all the clichés (music, cooking, hiking, camping).
Experience
This will be my fifth season tree planting. Second year running a crew. I was first hired by Summit for the 2015 season. Right from the first day I was fully involved in all aspects of camp life (I was instantly hooked). My second and third season, I was given the opportunity to be crummy driver, as well as being rookie trainer for my crew. Last season I was given responsibilities around camp and on the blocks.
Crew Expectations
Respect - yourself, others, equipment
Positivity - the job is hard but more enjoyable with a positive attitude
Honesty - builds trust
Hard work - giving it 100% each day!
Motivation - set and exceed goals
Safety - smart safe decisions, listen to your body
Punctual - be on time, time is money!
Communication - ask for help, speak up, what works well, what can be improved
What you can expect from me
I hold myself to the same expectations as I hold for the crew. You can expect calm, thoughtful decisions that are in the best interests of the crew. I will be prepared to ensure everyone has the most amount of time in land. Being able to approach and talk to me about any issues. A fun and safe work environment.
