One Tree Planted
The Boreal is the world’s largest land-based biome. This forest emerged about 10,000 years ago, and is home to over 30,000 different species. Over 500 indigenous communities live in the boreal region, and 80% of the world’s fresh water supply is found there. Overall, the Boreal forests represent a whopping 25% of the world’s forest cover!
The Boreal Forest is unique to donate toward because of how well it has been preserved. The Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement has ensured the protection of over 170 million acres of Canada’s Boreal forest over the past five years. That’s nearly the size of Texas! Revolution the Movie - Rob Stewart
“We met on a jungle tour in Peru” explains Tim. “Rob makes documentaries about the environment and my company plants trees.” Summit Reforestation will be celebrating planting their 400 millionth tree this year. This is part of the solution, part of “the what we need to do next.” Rob is keenly aware of this, as we see in Revolution and he pledged to facilitate the planting of one tree for every ticket sold during the weekend of Earth Day, 2013. More than 10,000 ‘Revolution trees’ will be planted on crown land in British Columbia as the first private trees planted under the Carbon Offset Aggregation Cooperative (COAC). It is significant because it marks a new era of government-endorsed landscape management.
