About Me:
I was born and raised in a small town outside of Ottawa on a horse farm. I’ve never been afraid of getting my hands dirty and putting in hard work. After high school, I moved to Waterloo where I pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering. After my second year, I learned about tree planting as a great way to pay for school and the next summer off I went to BC to plant trees. After that first season, I knew I was hooked. After graduating in 2020, I realized that planting is also a great way to fund travel and adventures in the off season. My first season in the bush was tough, if I’m being honest, I hated tree planting. However, I’m no quitter, and I pushed myself to limits I didn’t know I had. I made amazing money and even more amazing friends along the way. The next year I came back and thrived in the planting environment, from camp life to pushing myself on the block. |
Industry Experience:
I planted for 3 years and then had the opportunity to become a crew boss and I took it. It was a whole new learning curve and I loved every minute of it! I’m now entering my fifth season in the bush and second as a crew boss.
What I expect from my planters:
Respect: my number one expectation is respect for each other, myself, other planters, other management and all the equipment.
Positivity/Attitude: tree planting can get tough, but a positive attitude can be the difference between a successful and not so successful season
Communication: clear, open and constructive communication
Push yourself EVERYDAY: let’s make some money
Take care of yourself: both mentally and physically
Fun: tree planting is tough so let’s make it fun together
What my planters can expect from me:
You can expect that I will follow the same expectations as you. Safety is my number 1 priority and my number 2 priority is making you money. I will work my hardest everyday to ensure you have the most successful planting season. This can mean ensuring all practical work is done, such as a good plan for the day, enough trees, proper training, useful feedback and clear expectations and also maintaining a positive environment, and ensuring everyone feels appreciated for their hard work. I am a firm believer in acknowledging planters and the crew as a whole for their hard work and effort.
