About Me:
I grew up in Ottawa, ON. I went to Carleton University for business. I graduated, then decided I was going to become a full time rock climber instead of a businessman. I landed my first tree planting job in 2016 to pay for my lifestyle. It was immensely challenging, but soon enough I realized that this was a job where I could happily give my maximum effort. My crew quickly became a second family and the camp culture was a whole new world for me. I was just incredibly stoked to live and work outside and I knew that this job was giving me the opportunity to travel the world 9 months a year climbing rocks. Side note: a second passion for me is chess, big bonus if you know how to play |
Industry Experience:
To date I have planted 5 seasons (1x Ontario, 1x Australia and 3x in British Colombia). This year will be my second season as a crew boss for a total of 7 seasons in the bush.
Expectations for my crew:
Improvement - Whether you are a seasoned vet or a first-year planter, I am looking for people who are always trying to get a little bit better, every single day. It could be in trees planted, money earned, morale, attitude, consistency or even injury prevention. Regardless of skill or experience, we can all improve and I will do everything in my power to help facilitate your growth.
Integrity - Tree planting is a unique job that allows quite a bit of freedom in how you tackle challenges. As a result everyone is given quite a bit of responsibility. This means planting trees to the proper specifications, treating your team respectfully and taking responsibility for mistakes made.
Communication - Open and honest communication is vital in tree planting. The experience is extreme and unless issues are tackled as soon as they arise things get out of hand fast.
Hard work - People from all walks of life have succeeded at tree-planting. They all have one thing in common, the drive to work through discomfort. Tree planting is hard, you have to be willing to give everything you have.
Community - A planting crew is a lot like a family. The support you gain from your peers can be the difference between a miserable experience and the time of your life. We suffer together, we celebrate together and we do everything in our power to make the season unforgettable.
Expectations for my crew:
What I expect from you I also want you to expect from me.
