About Me
I grew up in Ontario and studied at Acadia University in Nova Scotia, where I was also on the swim team. When I graduated in 2021, I decided to move to BC; I lived in the interior for a short time before moving to Vancouver, and it’s been my home ever since! Three years ago, I decided to try out tree planting since some of my friends had done it and loved it, and I thought to myself, “I’ll just do the one season.” But from the moment I arrived in camp I fell in love with everything about planting and found it tremendously rewarding. The financial freedom this job granted me was also incredible; it allowed me to afford experiences like travelling and skiing in BC during the winter. Planting is one of the few lines of work where you get out of it exactly what you put into it, and if you take advantage of that, you’ll find success! These days I’m usually in Vancouver, but you can often find me on Vancouver Island or interior BC as well. I love being outside, playing cards, cooking a big meal, going anywhere that has karaoke ;) and doing all these things with awesome people. |
Industry Experience
This will be my fourth season in the bush and my first as a crew boss. I planted for two seasons; during my second season I took on additional responsibilities of driving and being camp first- aider. My third season I worked as a checker, which gave me valuable experience building many skills such as fixing things in camp, running things on the block, and working with planters one-on-one. I’m stoked to be running a crew this year and I can’t wait to see it all come together!
What I Expect from My Planters:
Planting is not easy. You’ll be working through rain, snow, and hail, in swamps, in thick slash, in extreme cold and heat, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. My expectation is that you show up to work with a positive attitude and give 100% effort every day. Other expectations are that you are responsible, understand that many hands make light work and will work with myself and the rest of the crew as a team, and are receptive to feedback. With that I also expect clear
and respectful communication and respect of others and yourself. Most important is to HAVE FUN during the season! I want to build a tight-knit crew where we all embrace the chaos, support each other, and celebrate our successes as a crew!
What My Planters Can Expect from Me:
I will be giving 110% every day to ensure everybody’s success this season! You can expect me to always prioritize safety, be organized, and have a clear plan for you every morning. You can expect me to be transparent with you; I will be honest and always tell you what’s going on or explain why I might need you to do something. If you have any questions or need to talk for any reason you can always ask me, and I will be open to having any conversations you’d like to have with me. You can also expect me to support you however you need as we work together to reach your goals. Whatever it looks like, your success is my success!
And again, lastly you can expect to have FUN working with me! Dressing up for contract close, themed nights off in
camp, a movie in my trailer on a day off, you can count on me to be keen to have a good time and celebrate our successes together.
Basically, my goal for this season is for everyone on my crew to accomplish THEIR GOALS for the
season, whatever those may be. Let’s do the thing!
