About Me:
I was raised in southern Quebec and Ontario by a family of teachers and outdoors enthusiasts. Through them I found myself loving to teach what I do at work and the experiences I’ve acquired ever since. I was introduced to planting by a friend after leaving university and being on the search for something big and new. My season in Ontario was life-changing and I instantly fell in love with the work ethic and definitely the lifestyle. FINALLY PEOPLE LIKE ME! This first season caused a chain reaction of strong friendships, insane travelling and incredible job opportunities in the field. Moving forward I worked with Summit for the following years and became obsessed (it’s pretty much the only thing I talk about). This thing started as a summer job and now it’s my life! Working summers in Northern BC and Alberta and my winters in Australia, it doesn’t get much better than that. I’ve gotten to climb mountains in New Zealand, surf waves in Australia and look up at unbelievably starry and colourful night skies up north, all because of this industry. I learned fast that this job wasn’t for everyone and that hard work is the only thing that pays off. You should only do what makes you happy in life and for some people like me, it’s out there, in the bush, putting trees in the ground. I love what I do, I work hard for it, and somehow I’m lucky enough to be getting paid for it as well. |
Qualities I look for:
It’s no secret that this is one of the hardest jobs out there but if you’ve already made it here you must know by now that the payoffs are more incredible. At the end of the day I’m hiring you to go out there and in every way, work harder than you’ve ever worked before. This job is 75% mental and 25% physical and I want all 100%. That takes some time to develop and understand but you’ll eventually make it look easy. A positive attitude goes super far while working in a tight-knit crew. Nobody wants to be around the one complaining or starting drama; this is above all else a job and I expect you to do the work to the best of your abilities. The planters with the most drive and who are the most goal-oriented are the ones who produce and profit the most. Finally, without exceptions, I expect strong regard for respect, honesty and openness within the crew. These are the people you will be living and working alongside for months to come. Keeping an open line of communication between you, the crew and myself will make for a smooth season where everyone feels comfortable, safe and happy.
What you can expect from me:
I’ll be giving you my 100% all season long, which is what I expect in return. My job is to harness the greatest planter in you and utilize it to give you the highest profit. I want you more than anything to succeed and finish the season with a fat smile and fat stacks to match. You’ll be set up and prepared to go out there and make money with zero complications. I’ll be there to motivate, direct and teach to the best of my abilities, all while desperately trying to make you laugh along the way. Plain and simple, I want to provide you the best times with the highest gain.
Goals for the season:
Safety: First and foremost, safety will always be our priority. Whether it be out there during the workday or back at camp. We will take every precaution to create an environment that’s safe for everyone at all times.
A Strong Crew: A reliable crew has many forms, usually it has to do with motivation and general drive to succeed. Both things that directly affect production and those sweet, sweet dollar bills. Developing a solid group of people that can’t wait to get out there and make money together will be beneficial for everyone. Then and only then shall we “Ball out”.
Have Fun: Nothing’s worth doing if you don’t enjoy it. This job is crazy fun if you let it be. Especially when you’re doing it alongside a great crew with a great sense of humour; planting seasons are shorter than you think let’s make the best of it while we can.
