Industry Experience:
I’ve got five seasons under my belt; four with Summit, one in Australia, and I’ve been fortunate to have some incredible role models along the way. My 2021 season saw me stepping into the role of “Assistant Crew Boss”, honing my skills as a leader and learning invaluable lessons that helped me transition into running a crew of my own. I can’t wait to get back out there and share what I love about planting with some fresh faces.
What I expect from my planters:
Motivated and goal oriented: I will do everything in my power to keep my planters motivated but, at the end of the day, you’ll need to be able to dig deep and find ways to push yourself individually. This might be the most difficult part of the job… but it’s also where you’ll find the most fulfillment and personal growth.
Gung-Ho: All planters are different; some seem to really “get it” right out of the gate… some take a little longer to warm up… some make $500 a day and some might sit comfortably at $250. Wherever you may find yourself on that spectrum is quite alright with me, as long as you’re putting in 100% effort every day.
Respectful: Bush life can be hard. Out here we must lift each other up, help each other out, and there is zero tolerance when it comes to putting down your peers. Respect also means being on time, every single day, without exceptions. I’ll never waste your time and I expect you to be mindful of mine and others’.
Positive: Without access to most of the “creature comforts” we have in our normal lives, we seek comfort in those around us… and vibes are incredibly contagious! Trust me--wading through swamps is a lot more fun with good-humored pals than it is with a bunch of complainers!
What my planters can expect from me:
Hard work and dedication: I’m here because part of me is addicted to pain and gruelling labour. I put in 110% every single day, making sure things run smoothly, and every planter has the necessary tools to succeed.
Well-thought-out plans: I’ve got a real passion for efficiency and it shows. I’ll never waste your time and that’s a promise.
Safety: Our workplace is extremely remote and the environment can be unpredictable. Years of experience have taught me how to spot hazards and make sure every individual on the block is equipped to face the day with safety as their first priority.
Fierce personal and professional support: I have learned through years of professional experience in conflict management and interpersonal communications, that everyone has different needs when it comes to support. I will always make sure that my crew is getting what they need from me and my leadership on an individual basis.
Communication: Developing a solid plan is one thing… communicating that plan in a way that makes sense to everyone involved is another thing entirely. I pride myself in having excellent communication skills that help me to distribute information quickly, effectively, and with gosh dang good humour.
Coaching: I’ve planted a few trees and I’ve trained my fair share of rookies. Not only am I prepared, I’m downright excited to help you come into your own as a planter.
Canine comforts: Pictured above is my trusty sidekick, Forrest. Not only is he adorable, he’s incredibly friendly, smart and hilarious - guaranteed to brighten even the darkest of days, this crew mascot is here for all the pets.
