About Me: I’m from Guelph ON and completed my degree in Geography at the University of Ottawa. I love food, farming, learning, music, travelling and being outside. I came planting primarily to pay for school and also to experience what many of my friends have done and were always talking about. Planting is one of the hardest things I do in my life, but the intensity, sense of reward, and good money keep me coming back. I feel as though I can fully express my personality when I am planting because I love hard physical work, travelling to new places and being outside. I love managing a planting crew, and I continue to learn from and refine my work in this position.

Planting and Crew-bossing Experience
2020 will be my 5th season in the bush, and my 2.5th season as a foreman. I planted for three seasons, all with Summit, and have run a crew for 1.5 seasons. Last year my crew was a successful and tight-knit group of people, and the vets returning for 2020 will help to form that strong foundation and encourage and train newcomers. I have driven for the company every season, and I take safety – especially while driving, using equipment, and managing my crew drivers – extremely seriously. I have my OFA 3 first aid ticket and plan on having several planters with first aid training and experience.
2020 Crew
Planting is meaningful work – in terms of making forestry renewable, and in terms of the satisfaction and financial reward the job offers. I want to facilitate a cohesive and happy group of planters who can take on a professional mentality for this work while maintaining a healthy sense of humour, as planting can get tough. At the end of the 2019 season, my crew was averaging 3000 trees a day and having a lot of fun doing it.
I look forward to re-creating a similar crew with several awesome returning vets along with the eager new rookies of 2020.
Expectations
What you can expect from me
As much as planting is tough physical work, many planters would argue that the most challenging part is mastering a sustainable mentality for the job. I will train you to be a fast planter and make good money while remaining calm and happy. There is no greater feeling as a crew boss than seeing planters improve and reach their personal goals, and I am very excited to help all of my planters do that.

What you can expect from me
- I will set you up for a good day every day. Safety is the number one priority. I will work my ass off to help you get what you need to be a successful planter. This involves practical things like having a stocked cache, having a good plan, and providing you with proper training, clear expectations, and regular feedback, but equally as important: maintaining a positive working environment and ensuring you feel supported and appreciated as a planter. I make a point to acknowledge and thank my planters often for their hard work and efforts as I see it – both as individuals and as a crew.
