Oliver Lonkay (Twisty)
About Me: Hi! My name is Oliver, but everyone calls me Twisty. I'm originally from a small surfing town in NSW, Australia. As you can probably guess, I did what many Aussies do and moved across the globe to live in the mountains of Canada. I've called Big White home for the last 10 years of my life and usually spend the entire winter living on top of a mountain before heading to the bush for planting season. Recently, I made the move back to Aus for some sunshine, and will be coming back to Canada ready to start our planting season soon! |
Hobbies and Interests:
Being from Australia, surfing has always been a huge part of my life, so the only thing that gets me by without it is snowboarding all winter long. I also love anything to do with the outdoors (hence why I've spent a decade heading back to the bush every summer!) I enjoy camping and hiking with my dog Piper whenever I get a chance.
Industry History:
This will be my 10th season in the industry and working for Summit. I planted my first season back in 2012 and then began checking trees and helping take care of camp for the next three seasons. In 2016 I worked as a crew boss for the first time and fell in love with running my own crew and the rewards of pushing my planters to be the best versions of themselves. This will be my first year as a supervisor but having ten seasons under my belt and learning what it means to run a camp, I plan to utilize all the skills and experiences I’ve gained throughout the years to ensure the best season for everyone!
