About Me: I prepared for the long, difficult and trying summers of planting by being a lifelong Blue Jays fan. The difference is that tree planting is rewarding. I currently make my home in Chester, Nova Scotia with my partner, Ryah, and our son, Otis. I like to spend my off time out with my dogs, hanging out with my family, or traveling. I am also a news junkie, and I'll read a book if it has enough pictures in it, preferably pop up.
Value Statements and Quotes: "Work hard, tell the truth and always be on time for dinner." Gerald Ford
Summit History and Industry History:
This coming summer will be my 18th in the bush, all with Summit. I planted with Summit for the first four seasons, then worked a checker/support staff for the next five. Last year was my 8th year supervising. I found aspects of last year very trying and am looking forward to a year in the bush with more stability and hopefully less concern about a pandemic. I find this job fulfilling because it is both very rewarding and challenging in equal parts. I'm excited to get back into the bush for another summer to give our planters and clients the best season possible, and I still love this job. I've really enjoyed working with Summit, and I have made so many good friends in this company over the years. I love meeting great people, and I love problem solving, and tree planting is a business with lots of opportunities for both.
Expectations of your planters:
I can't really say it better than President Ford, but if I were to add anything it would be that I really value a positive attitude above all. Also, I am disappointed when one person's actions negatively affect other people. You are expected to be considerate. Those aren't my only expectations, but they are points of emphasis.
What you can expect from me:
I want my planters to both feel and be safe, to feel respected, and to enjoy being a part of the community in our camp. You can expect me to be striving to attain these goals throughout the year
My goals:
My first priority is safety. I want everyone to get to work and back happy and healthy. That said, my goal would be that the people that I work with are able to attain their goals. I want our planters to have a successful season and be able to pay their tuition, go traveling and live like royalty or wherever their adventures may take them.
